Excepter | 'The Stand' | Dekorder | 2014

Excepter | 'The Stand' | Dekorder | 2014

This is a band from New York that is comprise by John Fell Ryan (No-Neck Blues Band), who is its founder member since 2002, Lala Ryan, Jon Nicholson, Nathan Corbin, Macrae Semans and Jon Williams.
They have a discography of 25 albums released on Fusetron, Excepter Records, Paw Tracks (Animal Collective), Load, Abandon Ship Records, among other labels.
This is Volume 6 of the ‘Hybrid-Vinyl’ 12 inches series released on occasion of the 10th anniversary of German Dekorder label (which is run by Marc Richter aka Black To Comm), alongside other artists such as Pye Corner Audio, Leyland Kirby, Experimental Audio Research, Bill Kouligas, Vindicatrix, Kemialliset Ystävät, Ensemble Economique and Black To Comm. This release is on one side a picture-disc and on the other is a vinyl.
'The Stand' consists of three new tracks featuring Lala Ryan Harrison and John Fell Ryan's 18 months old son John Victory who performed his vocals.
'Victory Beat' starts with John Victory's babbling alongwith a TR 808 drum machine and dark synthesizers conjuring-up the kosmische era and its gliders and certainly hypnotic effects. 'The Fence' is a soundtrack performed in 2012 at the Berardo Museum in Lisbon. It is a swirl of sound waves that come and go, while holding a repetitive rhythm for several minutes before disappears, when it emerges an abstract rhythm. Close this album 'I Zone' with a heavy synth line that unfolds for a few minutes.
'The Stand' has an experimental and hypnotic character with hints on the late '70s electronic music, robotic rhythms, with winks to Throbbing Gristle's industrial music and minimal wave genre.
