Brad E. Rose es un artista multidisciplinario, compositor, improvisador e intérprete estadounidense, quien está activo desde principios de los ’90 con una extensa discografía que abarca varios proyectos en solitario utilizando distintos apodos como Charlatan, The North Sea, Ajilvsga, Altar Eagle, además de varias colaboraciones.

Desde 1995 es fundador de Foxi Digitalis, una red y publicación musical dedicada a difundir la música experimental y que también fue un sello discográfico.

“I’m Scared of Dying” es un título inquietante, fuerte que refiere a un estado de ánimo complejo en el que no se está en paz consigo mismo. Más que miedo a la muerte, Rose sintió miedo a la enfermedad, pensamiento con el que divagaba a altas horas de la noche y fuente de inspiración para crear las canciones de este disco; lo que se traduce en el temor de que su familia tuviera que lidiar con su (posible) enfermedad. En cualquier caso, este sentimiento es muy comprensible que le pase a un padre de familia. En tal sentido, esperaría que las canciones de este álbum fueran en una envoltura oscura y atmósferas sombrías. Sin embargo, ya en el arranque, “I’m Scared of Dying I” muestra líneas ambientales plácidas que circundan por el espacio, aunque en “I’m Scared of Dying V” ya se advierten atmósferas inquietantes con los ecos ondulantes y drones elegíacos. En “I’m Scared of Dying VI” las capas ambientales prevalecen, como así también los sutiles bordes saturados.
Brad E. Rose devela una emoción, como es el miedo, que hoy en día, con distintos matices, se manifiesta en el mundo turbulento en el que vivimos.

Brad E. Rose is an American multidisciplinary artist, composer, improviser and performer, who has been active since the 90s with an extensive discography that encompasses several solo projects using different nicknames such as Charlatan, The North Sea, Ajilvsga, Altar Eagle, in addition to several collaborations.

Since 1995, he is the founder of Foxi Digitalis, a network and music publication dedicated to spread experimental music and which was also a record label.

“I’m Scared of Dying” is a disturbing, strong title that refers to a complex state of mind in which one is not at peace with oneself. More than fear of death, Rose felt fear of illness, a thought with which he wandered late at night and a source of inspiration for the creation of the songs on this album, which translates into the fear that his family would have to deal with his (possible) illness. In any case, this feeling is very understandable for a parent to experience. In that sense, I would expect the songs on this album to be in a dark envelope and somber atmospheres. However, since the beginning, “I’m Scared of Dying I” unfurls placid ambient lines that surround the space, although in “I’m Scared of Dying V” disturbing atmospheres are already noticeable with undulating echoes and elegiac drones. In “I’m Scared of Dying VI” ambient layers prevail, as do subtle saturated edges.
Brad E. Rose reveals an emotion, such as fear, that nowadays, with different nuances, manifests itself in the turbulent world in which we are living in.
