Concepción Huerta, entre lo sombrío y lo épico.
Concepción Huerta es una artista multidisciplinaria nacida en Guadalajara, México, quien emplea cintas para manipular grabaciones de objetos encontrados y dispositivos electrónicos. Activa desde 2016 con un discografía de casi treinta discos, algunos de ellos bajo su propio nombre y otros en colaboración con artistas como la cantante, multiinstrumentista y compositora guatemalteca, Mabe Fratti.
Concepción tiene gran experiencia en el campo audiovisual y es miembro del conjunto experimental Amor Muere con Gibrana Cervantes, Camille Mandoki y Mabe Fratti.
El sello de Austin, Texas, Elevator Bath, gestionado por Colin Sheffield desde 1998, tiene un interesante roster que incluye a Merzbow, Francisco López, Monte Espina y Jim Haynes, entre otros, lanza el primer vinilo en solitario de Concepción Huerta.
Este álbum fue grabado mientras residía en el icónico estudio Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) de Estocolmo y luego fue terminado en un seminario en la UNAM con Olivia Block (a Block se le atribuye la coproducción de dos piezas). En dicha oportunidad Huerta utilizó los sintetizadores Buchla y Nord.
Como contexto “The Earth Has Memory” se inspira en un viaje al centro de la Tierra, desplegando nuestra protagonista atmósferas inquietantes que se desarrollan bajo una gama de bordes oscuros, fusionándose a la perfección con un denso tapiz de sonidos.
Explorar profundo debajo de la tierra genera que tanto se produzcan espacios placenteros y meditativos, insinuando melodías épicas como en el sublime “The Sacredness: Minerals & Rhizome”, como otros tiempos mordaces y sombríos.

This album was recorded while she was in residence at Stockholm’s iconic Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) studio and then finished it in a seminar at UNAM with Olivia Block (Block is credited with co-producing two pieces). On that occasion Huerta used the Buchla and Nord analog synthesizers.
As context, “The Earth Has Memory” is inspired by a trip to the center of the Earth, unfurling our protagonist eerie atmospheres develop under a wide range of dark edges, melding seamlessly with a dense tapestry of sounds.
Exploring deep beneath the earth generates both pleasant and meditative moments, hinting at epic melodies as in the sublime “The Sacredness: Minerals & Rhizome”, and other scathing and bleak times.
