Loula Yorke es una compositora, improvisadora e intérprete en vivo que trabaja principalmente con un sintetizador modular, desplegando bellas piezas ambient. Su debut lo hace con el lanzamiento del single “It’s been decided that if you lay down no-one will die”, ocasión por la que fue entrevistada por loop.
En el pasado mes de diciembre salió de gira por el norte de Irlanda con su proyecto OULAN junto con la poeta y vocalista Una Lee. Loula York realizará en los próximos tres meses varias presentaciones en el Reino Unido, entre ellas, en el mítico Café Oto.
Truxalis publicará el 23 de enero su álbum “Volta” que consiste en siete piezas que se extienden a través de nubes que flotan en el espacio.
El viaje comienza con “An example of periodic time” con las cascadas de arpegios que esparcen colores rutilantes. En ”Falling apart together” las combinaciones de módulos muestran una nostálgica línea melódica que se esconde y reaparece; como dos cuerpos que se encuentran y se separan. La canción del single “It’s been decided that if you lay down no-one will die”, las notas vacilantes se desarrollan progresivamente hasta encontrarse con “Staying with the trouble” que insinúa solapados pulsos rítmicos. En “The grounds are changing as they promise to do” me imagino raíces que salen y se multiplican haciendo crecer plantas por las que brotan flores en un bello jardín. Las notas sintetizadas van in crescendo hasta alcanzar el lugar deseado en el que queremos permanecer. En “The hidden messages in water” que cierra este álbum, las bajas frecuencias se propagan desplegando ondas de ecos que nuestra protagonista manipula hábilmente.
Loula Yorke nos invita a levitar a través del espacio y bailar a través de los cambiantes sonidos analógicos que se transforman en himnos épicos.
Loula Yorke is a composer, improviser and live performer who works primarily with a modular synthesizer, deploying beautiful ambient pieces. She made her debut with the release of the single “It’s been decided that if you lay down no-one will die”, an occasion for which she was interviewed on loop.
Last December she toured Northern Ireland with her project OULAN alongside poet and vocalist Una Lee. Loula York will tour in the UK in the next three months, including at the legendary Café Oto.
The Truxalis label will release the album “Volta” on January 23rd which consists of seven pieces that sprawl through clouds that hover into space.
The journey begins with “An example of periodic time” with cascades of arpeggios that spread brilliant colors. In ”Falling apart together” the combinations of modules create a nostalgic melodic lines that hides and reappears; like two bodies that meet and separate. The song from the single “It’s been decided that if you lay down no-one will die”, the wavering notes develop progressively until meeting “Staying with the trouble” which hints at overlapping rhythmic pulses. In “The grounds are changing as they promise to do” I imagine roots that come out and multiply, making plants grow from which flowers sprout in a beautiful garden. The synthesized notes go in crescendo until we reach the desired place where we want to stay. In “The hidden messages in water” that closes this album the low frequencies spread unfurling waves of echoes that our protagonist deftly manipulates.
Loula Yorke invites us to levitate through space and dance through shifting analog sounds that transform into epic anthems.
