Art Zoyd Studios es una banda francesa formada en 1968 que combina free jazz, rock progresivo y música de vanguardia electrónica.
Art Zoyd Studios se ha fijado el propósito de fomentar el diseño y la producción de nuevas obras, distribuirlas y favorecer el desarrollo de la investigación musical, en particular mediante la creación de nuevas herramientas y procesos creativos que utilicen tecnologías de vanguardia. En tal sentido, desde hace varios años vienen publicando la serie “Expériences de vol” («experiencias de vuelo») para que las obras encargadas por sus estudios queden disponibles.

“Expériences de Vol #15/16/17”consiste en tres CD’s cuyos tracks son de larga duración (sobre 15 minutos) y reúne a músicos y compositores e improvisadores(as) de distintas nacionalidades que vienen del mundo académico relacionado con la música contemporánea y otras disciplinas, estableciendo líneas difusas entre las grabaciones de campo, el ruido, el activismo político en relación al sonido y la investigación. Verdaderos exploradores sonoros que empujan las fronteras de la vanguardia.
El francés Christian Zanési expone con su pieza “Before the Blast” grabaciones de campo (agua, viento, objetos encontrados…). “Arca” de la compositora y cante soprano, Annabelle Playe comienza con texturas de ruido abrasivas, para continuar luego con espacios ambientales, junto a sonidos abstractos para finalizar con una línea sintetizada melancólica y oscura. El activista y músico Dror Feiler con “The Archipelago of Noise Islands muestra una madeja electrónica abstracta y ruidosa. Yérri-Gaspar Hummel son los músicos Kaspår y Octave Moritz quienes trabajan con el zumbido de las abejas que se convierte en un drone y que combina con fragmentos de sonidos agudos. Nadia Ratsimandresy, es una músico de cámara que se desenvuelve en el procesamiento electrónico en tiempo real, quien despliega con “Pinte de café” una propuesta abstracta en la que manipula sonidos que retuerce y distorsiona hasta reconvertirlos. Antoine Chessex, toca el el saxofón tenor que distorsiona a través de amplificadores de guitarra, creando con “Avalanche” una pared de ruido. Barbara Dang con formación en música clásica y en jazz, quien desde muy temprano practica la improvisación libre a través del piano preparado y los sonidos del entorno, muestra en “Hypostasis”, sutiles rasgueos a las cuerdas del piano, donde el silencio es parte de su propuesta sonora. Timbres que resuenan con delicadeza sacados del piano, es lo que expone el bajista y compositor suizo Raphaël Ortis con su pieza “C’est déjà arrivera”. El artista sonoro y compositor polaco Gerard Lebik, crea oscilantes ondas sonoras en su track “The low of the refraction and an orange glow illuminates the sky of the city”. En la pieza «Chilli and bonbon in Chililabombwe» el violonchelista, improvisador y compositor Brice Catherin muestra capas de ruido rugosos y afilados en la línea de lo que hizo el ruidista polaco Zbigniew Karkowski. El compositor, intérprete y profesor venezolano Mirtru Escalona-Mijares, trabaja con la voz procesándola alcanzando líneas vocales altísimas, combinándolas con un trabajo con cuerdas. Julien Ottavi, doctor en artes, compositor, artista y curador, con su pieza “Cremator Opera v2” entrega ráfagas de ruido que son como partículas de polvo que se esparcen por el espacio sonoro espectral.
“Expériences de Vol #15/16/17” congrega a exploradores sonoros que están en la frontera de la vanguardia.

Art Zoyd Studios is a French band formed in 1968 that combines free jazz, progressive rock and avant-garde electronic music.
Art Zoyd Studios has set itself the goal of encouraging the design and production of new works, distributing them and promoting the development of musical research, in particular through the creation of new creative tools and processes using cutting-edge technologies. In this sense, for several years they have been publishing the series “Expériences de vol” (“flight experiences”) so that the works commissioned by their studios are available.
“Expériences de Vol #15/16/17” consists of three CDs whose long-form tracks (about 15 minutes) brings together musicians, composers and improvisers of different nationalities who come from the academic world related to contemporary music and other disciplines, establishing blurred lines between field recordings, noise, political activism in relation to sound and research. True sound explorers that push the boundaries of the avant-garde.
With his piece “Before the Blast”, Frenchman Christian Zanési exposes field recordings (water, wind, found objects…). “Arca” by composer and soprano singer Annabelle Playe begins with abrasive noise textures, then continues with ambient spaces, along with abstract sounds, to end with a melancholic and a dark synthesized line. The activist and musician Dror Feiler with “The Archipelago of Noise Islands shows an abstract and noisy electronic skein. Yérri-Gaspar Hummel are the musicians Kaspår and Octave Moritz who work with the humming of bees that becomes a drone combining fragments of high-pitched sounds. Nadia Ratsimandresy is a chamber musician who works in electronic processing in real time, who deploys with “Pinte de café” an abstract proposal in which she manipulates sounds that she twists and distorts until they are reconverted. Antoine Chessex plays tenor saxophone that distorts through guitar amplifiers, creating a wall of noise with “Avalanche.” Barbara Dang, with training in classical music and jazz, who from an early age has practiced free improvisation through the prepared piano and the sounds of the environment, shows in “Hypostasis”, subtle strums on the piano strings, where silence is part of its sound proposal. Timbres that resonate delicately taken from the piano, is what the Swiss bassist and composer Raphaël Ortis exposes with his piece “C’est déjà arrivera”. Polish sound artist and composer Gerard Lebik creates oscillating sound waves in his track “The low of the refraction and an orange glow illuminates the sky of the city.” In the piece «Chilli and bonbon in Chililabombwe» the cellist, improviser and composer Brice Catherin shows rough and sharp layers of noise in the line of what the Polish noise artist Zbigniew Karkowski did. The Venezuelan composer, performer and teacher Mirtru Escalona-Mijares works with the voice, processing it, reaching soaring vocal lines, combining them with strings. Julien Ottavi, doctor of arts, composer, artist and curator, with his piece “Cremator Opera v2” delivers bursts of noise that are like dust particles that spread through the spectral sound space.
“Expériences de Vol #15/16/17” brings together sound explorers who are on the frontier of the avant-garde music.
